The database will be available in two languages, Romanian and
English, through two mirror sites.
Therefore all authors are requested to submit the information in
the two languages. Those with no Romanian language knowledge and who do
not have collaborators to help with the Romanian version may contact
the Project Secretary.
The database will be structured into three parts:
- Clinical Presentations
(scheduled for summer 2003):
- Contains information for the general practitioners.
- It should include concepts that are taught to and are
considered necessary to be known by medical students.
- It is structured into 125 chapters listed under
Clinical Presentations. The list
includes a number of various situations and complaints of the patients
visiting the general practice and it represents the structure of the
curriculum for the clinical years (Competence Based Education) of the
University of Calgary, Canada.
- Each chapter includes one or more algorithms (maximum 50
- Example: Breast Mass),
according to the author/s approach of the problem (table of contents of
the chapter).
- Each algorithm will have attached pages containing notes,
data, tables, graphs, images etc. Authors are free to decide on the
format of the attached documents. The maximum number of pages attached,
including all links to other web pages, to an algorithm is 50 (Site
map).
- Algorithms for Part I will be processed using the VISIO
Professional software. See codes, graphic symbols, colors, links and
the page report in Annex
7.
- The authors not familiar with the VISIO software will
send the algorithms made with different other software to the
Project Secretary for processing
with VISIO Professional.
- Deseases
(scheduled for summer 2003):
- Contains information for the specialist doctors.
- It should include concepts that are taught and are
considered necessary to be known by the residents in various
specialities;
- It is structured into 999 chapters representing diseases,
syndromes or morbid conditions classified according to the
International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, 2nd Edition,
2001 (ICD 10) (Deseases).
- Each chapter includes one or more algorithms (maximum 50,
Example: Breast
cancer: Diagnosis ),
according to the author/s approach of the problem (table of contents of
the chapter).
- Each algorithm will have attached pages containing notes,
data, tables, graphs, images etc. Authors are free to decide on the
format of the attached documents. The maximum number of pages attached,
including all links to other web pages, to an algorithm is 50 (Site
map).
- Algorithms for Part II will be processed using the VISIO
Professional software. See codes, graphic symbols, colours, links and
the page report in Annex
8.
- The authors not familiar with the VISIO software will
send the algorithms made with different other software to the
Project Secretary for processing
with VISIO Professional.
- Case Reports
(scheduled for summer 2004):
- Contains information for all categories of doctors.
- It will include Case Reports, representative, interesting
or rare.
- It is structured into 999 chapters representing diseases,
syndromes or morbid conditions classified according to the
International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, 2nd Edition,
2001 (ICD 10) (Case Reports).
- Each chapter includes one or more clinical cases (maximum
50 - table of contents of
the chapter).
- Each case report will have attached pages containing
notes, data, tables, graphs, images etc. Authors are free to decide on
the format of the attached documents. The maximum number of pages
attached, including all links to other web pages, to a case report is
50 (Site
map).
- The format for the Case Reports in Part III can be found
in the section Guidelines for submission of case
reports.
Information regarding the algorithm
Each algorithm or clinical case must be accompanied by a
"Page Report",
which includes information regarding the algorithm: code and title,
authors, reviewers, contributors, references, keywords, updates and
contact name.
The report on the page will be filled in according to specific
Instructions to
Authors: Page Report
and will be published together with the algorithm. The data included in
the repot will be included in the keyword list to be used for the
database
Med-Online.
